How Do I Pay for a Bankruptcy?
This question comes up often. How can I afford to pay for filing bankruptcy if I can’t afford to pay my debts? When the decision is made to file, after consulting with your attorney, you will want to stop paying all the debts that will be included for discharge in bankruptcy. Don’t forget to stop any automatic deductions directly with the creditor. Once you have done so, you can begin making payment on our fees. We accept payment by Zelle, checks, money orders, debit cards and of course, cash in the office. One reason to make payments is that you can refer creditors to our office, and we will confirm that we have been retained. Usually, they will then stop calling you. Please be aware that until the bankruptcy is actually filed, it won’t stop actions against you, such as a levy on your wages.
